Alaska aboard Regent's Seven Seas Mariner

I am doing my first Alaskan cruise aboard the beautiful Regent Seven Seas Mariner! I have heard this is the best way to see Alaska. Our embarkation was a breeze to say the least. We were on the ship before I knew it. Because the ship carries about 700 passengers there are not a lot of long lines to wait to check in then a line to get on the ship. The longest line was to go through customs.
This intimate ship this week has quite a number of kids on board. My son who is 8 is in the Club Mariner for 5-8 year olds. There are about 50 kids in that age group on board this week. From the sounds of it they are going to be having a blast this week playing and learning about Alaskan history and culture. Stay turned later in the week with a first hand review from my son.
The food has been way above my expectations. We have eaten at The Pool Grill, Compass Rose Dining Room and room service and everything has been very good. The wait staff is every attentive and they really made sure that Jacob (my son) was taken care of. We have reservations at Prime 7 and Signatures the specialty restaurants this week.
We walked around the ship this morning and it was very quiet and relaxing unlike other cruises we have been on. The fitness center was bustling this morning and the walking track was busy as well.
We are sailing the inside passage today and it is so beautiful! We have seen some humpback whales and sperm whales which is very common. What a great way to see this beautiful part of the world.
